Opel News - New partnership: Opel CMO Tina Müller and RAVENOL managing director Paul Becher shake on the new cooperation. Opel factory driver Marijan Griebel and RAVENOL Head of Motorsport Martin Huning look on

Rüsselsheim. Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH (RAVENOL) is now a partner of Opel Motorsport. From today, the premium lubricant manufacturer’s logos adorn the ADAM Cup vehicles in the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup, the largest rallye brand cup in Europe for young drivers to 27 years of age, as well as both ADAM R2 works cars of the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior team. This works team, made up of the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup 2013 and 2014 winners, Marijan Griebel (26, from Germany) and Emil Bergkvist (20, from Sweden), is in the midst of a very successful FIA ERC Junior season. After two victories in the first three rounds, Emil Bergkvist leads the best rallye talents in Europe in the FIA ERC Junior ranking.

The partnership between Opel Motorsport and RAVENOL is planned for the mid-term and also includes Opel’s circuit racing activities in the Astra OPC Cup within the Nürburgring Endurance Championship (VLN). Opel motorsport racing cars will of course use high-performance RAVENOL lubricants. In addition, the synergies between Opel and RAVENOL in the technical development of Opel racing cars will be consolidated while optimized, tailored solutions in the areas of engine, transmission and hydraulic oils are pursued.

Opel News - Changing places: Opel CMO Tina Müller test the RAVENOL-sponsored ADAM R2 of Opel factory driver Marijan Griebel

“We are delighted about the partnership with such a renowned company like RAVENOL,” says Tina Müller, Opel Chief Marketing Officer. “This cooperation is especially interesting for us, because it goes well beyond classic sponsoring. I am certain that consolidating the know-how of Opel Motorsport and RAVENOL will result in an extremely powerful combination from which both companies will benefit. Who knows, maybe we can make our already super successful Opel ADAM R2 even faster. Currently our works driver Emil Bergkvist is number one in the FIA ERC Junior standings, and we will do everything we can to keep it like that to the end of the season.”

Martin Huning, responsible for motorsport at RAVENOL, adds: “As a manufacturer of lubricants, our focus is of course on the use and further development of our products. That is why our partnership with Opel is above all a technical collaboration. We share the philosophies of affordable circuit racing with a high-performance vehicle and the promotion of young talent. We look forward to working with an automaker that has such a long and successful history in motorsports. I am sure that together with Opel we will be able to celebrate some special achievements in the future.”

Opel Motorsport and RAVENOL’s first joint activities are the fifth round of the Astra OPC Cup on the Nürburgring on June 20 and, one week later, the fourth race of the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team in the FIA ERC Junior 2015, the GEKO Ypres Rallye in Ypern, Belgium.
